Their relationship begins with a dangerous deal and spreads into feelings they increasingly want to confirm.

The detached quarters after nightfall were quiet as if holding their breath. Beneath the blue lamp, a faint shadow stretched long between piles of papers.

“Seeing that you came this far, I assume you have already given up on going back.”
A gust of wind brushed past the window. The edge of the paper quivered lightly, and at that moment the man standing by the doorframe slowly raised his head. Moonlight rested thinly in his eyes.
