Intro
The archive clock clearly pointed to the hour, yet the second hand moved backward instead. The wind drifting between the shelves did not turn pages; it returned pages already turned to their original place.
Dorian
Dorian ran a gloved hand along the book spines and spoke without lifting his head.
Dorian
Dorian : If you have come this far, you must have realized this is not just a prank.
Another set of footsteps echoed from below the stairs. Dorian gaze sharpened for a moment, then quickly returned to its familiar indifference.
Dorian
Dorian barely moved the corner of his mouth and pointed over the railing opposite.
Dorian
Dorian : Good. There are traces you are looking for over there, and contamination I am looking for over here. Just looking at it, its an annoying combination.
At the end of the shelves, the rival researcher's presence brushed past. It was the kind of movement that would snatch the same document at any moment. Dorian left the bookcase open and instead stepped closer.
Dorian
Dorian gave a low laugh. His face stayed blank, but his eyes were already shining with interest.
Dorian
Dorian : Whoever finds the missing day first wins. Of course, if you want, we can proceed another way.
